When Sinéad heard that Nathan was planning on taking Karrion to a show based on performances dealing with light and shadow*, she knew this was a perfect opportunity for Farahild too. It would be good practice and experience for the filly — not to mention a chance to show off her impressive fire-jumping abilities.

Because she was in training for a future hunting dragons and other dangerous creatures, Sinéad had decided to acclimatize Farahild to unusual conditions at a young age. By this time, the filly was used to working in and around fire, water, crowds, a variety of animals, loud noises...the list went on. Her natural courage and intelligence had laid a strong foundation, and it was plain that she was going to be a fearsome dragon hunter when she was old enough to ride.

The yearling Nordanner filly cut a bold figure among the other horses at the show. Her striped coat and green eyes were eye-catchingly exotic, but her businesslike clipped mane and tail and her powerful presence made it clear that she was not merely a beauty — she was a warhorse in the making.
